NOAA@NSIDC is pleased to announce the release of Version 3 of the NOAA/NSIDC Climate Data Record of Passive Microwave Sea Ice Concentration (final CDR). The reason for the version change is to update the masks used to remove spurious ice in the Northern Hemisphere. The masks changed from sea surface temperature climatology-based masks to the Polar Stereographic Valid Ice Masks Derived from National Ice Center Monthly Sea Ice Climatologies.
NASA IceBridge-related CryoSat-2 Level 4 Sea Ice Elevation, Freeboard, and Thickness data are now published at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set contains 30-day averaged Arctic sea ice thickness estimates, with freeboard and ice surface roughness, derived from from the ESA CryoSat-2 Synthetic Aperture Interferometric Radar Altimeter (SIRAL) Data set DOI: https://doi.org/10.5067/96JO0KIFDAS8
On 1 September 2017, the NSIDC Data Viewer tool at ftp://sidads.colorado.edu/pub/tools/dataviewer/ will be decommissioned; thus, permanently unavailable for any future use. There are no plans to replace it at this time.
A new data set, Daily Snow Depths and SWE from GPS Signal-to-Noise Ratios, is now available from the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). The data comprise daily snow depth and snow water equivalent (SWE) at 223 stations located primarily in the western United States, including Alaska.
NSIDC would like to announce a change to data access for the MEaSUREs MODIS Mosaic of Greenland 2005 (MOG2005) Image Map, Version 1 data set. Data access is now solely through our primary portal at: https://n5eil01u.ecs.nsidc.org/MEASURES/NSIDC-0547.001/. File level spatial and temporal metadata have been added to aid in searching the data. DOI: https://doi.org/10.5067/IAGYM8Q26QRE
NASA IceBridge DMS L0 Raw Imagery for the Spring 2017 Arctic campaign is now available from the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set contains level zero imagery taken from the Digital Mapping System (DMS) over Antarctica and Greenland. Data Set DOI: https://doi.org/10.5067/UMFN22VHGGMH
NASA IceBridge DMS L1B Geolocated and Orthorectified Images for the 2017 Arctic campaign are now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set contains Level-1B imagery taken from the Digital Mapping System (DMS) over Greenland and Antarctica. Data set DOI: https://doi.org/10.5067/OZ6VNOPMPRJ0
The F11 data from the MEaSUREs Calibrated Enhanced-Resolution Passive Microwave Daily EASE-Grid 2.0 Brightness Temperature ESDR, Version 1 data set is now available at version 1.2. The minor change in this version corrects the handling of QC flags to retain more data, eliminating only the flagged data in a given channel and taking care not to eliminate data in other channels. This data set is part of the Making Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) Program.
The MEaSUREs Greenland Image Mosaics from Sentinel-1A and -1B, Version 2 data set, available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), has been updated with mosaics through 30 June 2017. This data set, part of the Making Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) Program, provides 6- and 12-day 50 m resolution image mosaics of the Greenland coastline and ice sheet periphery.
The NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) decommisioned the Binary Data Subsetter on 01 August 2017. Access to all ICESat/GLAS binary data products at the NSIDC DAAC was removed on 01 August 2017. ICESat/GLAS data remain available in HDF5 format.
NASA IceBridge Sander AIRGrav L1B Geolocated Free Air Gravity Anomalies data for 2016 Antarctica are now available from the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). Additionally, on July 26, 2017, the entire IceBridge IGGRV1B data set was replaced with re-leveled data to ensure consistency within the entire data set. This data set contains Greenland and Antarctica gravity measurements taken from the Sander Geophysics AIRGrav airborne gravity system.
The F08 data from the MEaSUREs Calibrated Enhanced-Resolution Passive Microwave Daily EASE-Grid 2.0 Brightness Temperature ESDR, Version 1 data set is now available at version 1.2. The minor change in this version corrects the handling of QC flags to retain more data, eliminating only the flagged data in a given channel and taking care not to eliminate data in other channels. This data set is part of the Making Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) Program.
