The Global Land Ice Measurements from Space (GLIMS) Glacier Database, Version 1 data set, available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), has been updated. This update includes new glacier outlines for several regions, including Arctic Russia, Alaska, Glacier National Park, Indonesia, and the French Alps. Additional changes include reclassifying some glaciers as extinct, and updating some rock outcrops in the northeast Antarctic Peninsula to glacier outlines. You can find more detailed information about these changes in the GLIMS Glacier Database V1 Change Log, which is located in the General Resources section on the data set's landing page: https://nsidc.org/data/nsidc-0272/versions/1
This data set is a comprehensive glacier inventory that provides information about the extent and rate of change of all the world's mountain glaciers and ice caps. It uses data from the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) instrument aboard the Terra satellite, the Landsat series of satellites, and historical observations. The data set is produced in coordination with the Global Land Ice Measurements from Space (GLIMS) initiative and covers the period from 1 January 1850 to the present.
