Measurements of the bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) at two locations in Colorado—Grand Mesa, a snow-covered, forested study site about 40 miles east of Grand Junction, and Senator Beck Basin approximately 80 miles to the SSE of Grand Mesa—are now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC).
NOAA@NSIDC is pleased to announce the release of On-Ice Arctic Sea Ice Thickness Measurements by Auger, Core, and Electromagnetic Induction, From the Fram Expedition Onward. In addition to sea ice thickness, the data set provides sea ice freeboard and snow depth on sea ice from in situ measurements taken primarily using auger, coring devices, and electromagnetic (EM) sounding. When available, ice type is also included.
Field data from the Soil Moisture Active Passive Validation Experiment 2015 (SMAPVEX15) validation campaign are now available at the National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). The new data set contains in situ gravimetric and volumetric soil moisture, bulk density, and soil temperature measurements. Visit the product page for details: SMAPVEX15 Probe-Based In Situ Soil Moisture Data, Version 1 DOI: https://doi.org/10.5067/QTDS3ZGQNM95
The NASA IceBridge Sea Ice Freeboard, Snow Depth, and Thickness Quick Look data set available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) has been updated from 09 March 2017 to 19 April 2017. This data set is an evaluation product containing derived geophysical data products retrieved over the Arctic sea ice cover using the IceBridge Airborne Topographic Mapper (ATM), Snow Radar, Digital Mapping System (DMS), and KT19 pyrometer.
VIIRS swath data customization options are now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). VIIRS 6-minute swath (VNP10, VNP29, & VNP30) datasets use algorithms specifically designed to be compatible with MODIS Terra and Aqua Version 6 datasets.
