The NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) has been informed of errors in the Polar Pathfinder Daily 25 km EASE-Grid Sea Ice Motion Vectors, Version 4 data set, released on 15 March 2019. NSIDC DAAC is working with the data provider to correct the errors. We will notify users when corrected files are available. For the daily ice motion files, the v field was incorrectly saved as an integer value instead of a floating point value. When corrected files are delivered, the v field will be a floating point value. For the weekly ice motion files, the metadata for the u and v fields erroneously indicate that the data are scaled by a factor of 0.1. The data are not scaled. For both the daily ice motion and weekly ice motion files, the metadata for the v field indicates that it is not the eastward velocity. The metadata should state that the field is not the northward velocity. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the errors in the data. If you have any questions, please contact NSIDC User Services at nsidc@nsidc.org.
