The AMSR-E/Aqua L2B Surface Soil Moisture, Ancillary Parms, & QC EASE-Grids, Version 3 data set is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set contains gridded estimates of soil moisture in the top 1cm of soil. Two different algorithms are used to estimate soil moisture from the AMSR-E/Aqua L2A brightness temperature measurements: Normalized Polarization Difference algorithm (NPD) and the Single Channel Algorithm (SCA). These two soil moisture estimates are given in cm3/cm3. Ancillary data including vegetation roughness, observation counts for various surface conditions, and QA flags are also provided. The file format is HDF-EOS5.
