The MEaSUREs Greenland Ice Velocity: Selected Glacier Site Single-Pair Velocity Maps from Optical Images, Version 1 data set, available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), has been updated. The data now spans through the end of 2022. An adjustment has been made to the empirical corrections applied to velocities derived from Sentinel-2. This adjustment was due to a change in the ESA orthorectification process that started on 23 August 2021. As a result, Sentinel-2 data from post-23 August 2021, which was previously excluded from Version 1, is now utilized in Version 1.1. All affected 2021 files have been reprocessed and renamed to include "v01.1" in their file names. The new 2022 files also include "v01.1" in their file names.
This data set, part of the Making Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) Program, consists of surface velocity estimates for selected Greenland Ice Sheet outlet glaciers. Velocity fields were generated by tracking visible features in optical images acquired between 2016–2021 by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Landsat 8 Operational Land Imager (OLI) and the European Space Agency (ESA) Copernicus Sentinel-2A and Sentinel-2B satellites.
