The ICESat-2 L4 Monthly Gridded Sea Ice Thickness, Version 3 data set, available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), has been updated. The temporal coverage has been extended by adding the monthly files from September 2023 through April 2024.

The Sea Ice Concentrations from Nimbus-7 SMMR and DMSP SSM/I-SSMIS Passive Microwave Data, Version 2 data set, available from the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), has been updated through  31 March 2024. This data set is generated from brightness temperature data and is designed to provide a consistent time series of sea ice concentrations spanning the coverage of several passive microwave instruments.

The SnowEx17 GPR and Lidar-Derived Snowpack Relative Permittivities and Densities, Version 1 data set is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set contains the results of 1 GHz ground-penetrating radar surveys (GPR) conducted in Grand Mesa, Colorado, USA.  Data include two-way travel time, lidar-measured snow depth, calculated snow water equivalent, calculated snow density, and calculated relative permittivity.

The Glacial and Fast Ice Distributions in Southeast Greenland Fjords, Version 1 dataset is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set provides spatial distributions of fast ice and glacial ice in eight fjords spanning the Southeast Greenland coast: Nansen, Kangerlusruaq, Ikertivaq, Skjoldungen, Tingmiarmiut, Napasorsvaq, Anoritup, and Kangerlluluk. Included in the dataset are all the fjord data along the Southeast Greenland coast.

The SnowEx23 CRREL Ground Penetrating Radar, Version 1 and SnowEx23 CRREL Ground Penetrating Radar Raw, Version 1 data sets are now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). These data sets contain the results of 1 GHz ground-penetrating radar surveys conducted in Alaska, USA and the corresponding raw data.

The SnowEx23 University of Wyoming Ground Penetrating Radar, Version 1data set, accessible through the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), has been updated from a Basic to a Standard Level of Service, which means more documentation and support options are now available. The SnowEx20 Grand Mesa IOP Lidar and GPR-Derived Snow Water Equivalent and Snow Density, Version 1data set, accessible through the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), has been updated from a Basic to a Standard Level of Service, which means more documentation and support options are now available.

MEaSUREs ITS_LIVE Antarctic Annual 240 m Ice Sheet Extent Masks, 1997-2021, Version 1 is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This ITS_LIVE data set, part of the Making Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) Program, consists of 240 m Antarctic Ice Sheet extent masks at roughly annual resolution from 1997 through 2021.

The MEaSUREs Greenland Ice Velocity: Selected Glacier Site Single-Pair Velocity Maps from Optical Images, Version 1 data set, available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), has been updated. New data has been added for the year 2023, extending the temporal coverage through 29 December 2023.

MEaSUREs ITS_LIVE Antarctic Quarterly 1920 m Ice Shelf Height Change and Basal Melt Rates, 1992-2017, Version 1 is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set contains quarterly, 1920 m resolution estimates of Antarctic ice shelf surface height change, basal melt rate, thickness, surface mass balance, firn air content, and associated errors, from 17 March 1992 through 16 December 2017.

MEaSUREs ITS_LIVE Greenland Monthly 120 m Ice Sheet Extent Masks, 1972-2022, Version 1 is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set contains a monthly, 120 m resolution ice mask for the Greenland Ice Sheet from 1972 to 2022. The presence of ice was determined from 237,556 manually and AI-derived terminus positions acquired by satellite optical and radar observations.

The DMSP SSM/I-SSMIS Daily Polar Gridded Brightness Temperatures, Version 6 data set, accessible through the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), has been updated through 5 July 2024. This data set provides daily gridded brightness temperatures derived from passive microwave sensors and distributed in a polar stereographic projection.

High Mountain Asia 1 km MODIS-AIRS Gap-Filled Ground Temperatures and Permafrost Probability Maps, 2003-2016, Version 1 is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set consists of 1 km resolution monthly land surface temperatures (MLSTs); mean annual ground temperatures (MAGTs); and estimates of permafrost extent (PE) in the High Mountain Asia region from 1 Jan 2003 – 31 Dec 2016.

The MEaSUREs Greenland Image Mosaics from Sentinel-1A and -1B, Version 4 and MEaSUREs Greenland 6 and 12 day Ice Sheet Velocity Mosaics from SAR, Version 2 data sets, available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC), have been updated. The temporal coverage for the image mosaics has been extended until 30 May 2024, and the 6 and 12 day velocity mosaics now spans until 24 April 2024.

The SnowEx23 Colorado State University Ground Penetrating Radar Raw, Version 1 data set is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set contains the raw results of 1 GHz ground-penetrating radar surveys conducted as part of the NASA SnowEx23 field campaign in Alaska, USA. Temporal range spans from 7 March 2023 to 16 March 2023.

 

ICESat-2 Pre-Launch Simulated Multiple Altimeter Beam Experimental Lidar Advanced Topographic Laser Altimeter System (MATLAS) Data, Version 2 is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set contains simulations of the expected performance of the ICESat-2 ATLAS instrument produced from Multiple Altimeter Beam Experimental Lidar (MABEL) data. The data files each contain approximately 1 minute of HDF5-derived MABEL data from areas in North America and Greenland.

The SnowEx23 Mar23 Community IOP Snow Depth Measurements, Version 1 data set is now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). This data set contains snow depth measurements from five study sites in Alaska, USA collected during the March 2023 intensive observation period (IOP) as part of the NASA SnowEx 2023 field campaign. Temporal range spans from 7 March 2023 to 16 March 2023.

 

Versions 4 of both ATLAS/ICESat-2 L3B Gridded Antarctic and Arctic Land Ice Height (ATL14) and ATLAS/ICESat-2 L3B Gridded Antarctic and Arctic Land Ice Height Change (ATL15) are now available at the NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC). ATL14 is a high-resolution (100 m) digital elevation model (DEM) that provides spatially continuous gridded data of ice sheet surface height.

SNPP VIIRS data processing is currently on hold after the satellite failed to return to Earth Pointing mode after a Command and Data Processor Reset effort. The Calibration and Validation team has decided to hold all SNPP VIIRS processing until data collection resumes and the Calibration and Validation team can validate the data quality.
